Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close

Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close Release Date: December 23, 2011

A nine-year-old amateur inventor, jewelry designer, astrophysicist, tambourine player and pacifist, searches New York for the lock that matches a mysterious key left by his father when he was killed in the September 11 attacks.

Oskar (Thomas Horn) is convinced that his father (two time Oscar winner Tom Hanks), who died in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, has left a final message for him hidden somewhere in the city.

Feeling disconnected from his grieving mother (Best Actress Oscar winner Sandra Bullock) and driven by a relentlessly active mind that refuses to believe in things that can’t be observed, Oskar begins searching New York City for the lock that fits a mysterious key he found in his father’s closet.

His journey through the five boroughs takes him beyond his own loss to a greater understanding of the observable world around him.

Tom Hanks has not had a live-action $100+ million hit since the year 2000, with Cast Away – if you don’t include built audience faves and box office champs The DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons, which were both bigger hits on the NY Times best seller list than The Help.

If Tom Hanks doesn’t score at the box office and Oscars with this movie, he might need to stick to animated voice overs and producing for the big bucks.
