That’s My Boy

That’s My Boy Release Date: June 15, 2012

A father (Adam Sandler) moves in with his son (Andy Samberg) and his fiancee and they don’t see eye-to-eye.

While still in his teens, Donny (Adam Sandler) fathered a son, Todd (Andy Samberg), and raised him as a single parent up until Todd’s 18th birthday. Now, after not seeing each other for years, Todd’s world comes crashing down on the eve of his wedding when an uninvited Donny suddenly shows up.

Trying desperately to reconnect with his son, Donny is now forced to deal with the repercussions of his bad parenting skills.

A title change of any movie is never a good sign.

The February 3, 2012 release, Big Miracle, starring and produced by Drew Barrymore, was originally entitled Everybody Loves Whales.

We’re pretty sure if Big Miracle had retained its original title it would have done much better in its debut weekend at the box office, where it didn’t make much of a splash with the #5 spot and less than $8 million.

Which brings us to Adam Sandler’s latest movie. Originally entitled I Hate You Dad, the movie got a title redo, with this winner… Donny’s Son. After test audiences nixed that title, as well as I Hate You Dad, Sony Pictures has settled on “That’s My Boy.”

We actually liked the title I Hate You Dad the best.

More surprising, Adam Sandler plays father to Andy Samberg. There is only a 12 year age difference there.

Will audiences flock to the multiplex to see the movie that has had three names, and stars a man not old enough to be playing the father of the actor playing his son?

We doubt it, very much.
