Evil Dead 4

Evil Dead 4 Release Date: April 5, 2013

Evil Dead 4, which will presumably continue the story of the original The Evil Dead and its two follow-ups, is actually going to be Army of Darkness 2, a direct sequel to the final (or not so final, seeing that there will be a fourth film in the Evil Dead big screen franchise), 1993’s Army Of Darkness. It will continue the storyline of Ash Williams, the iconic horror character created Bruce Campbell.

Director Sam Raimi made headlines last week (March 1, 2013) while promoting his latest film Oz: The Great and Powerful, when he claimed that he would actually start writing Evil Dead 4 this summer with his brother Ivan Raimi, who has collaborated with Sam on the first three films in the Evil Dead big screen franchise.

Evil Dead, the 2013 remake by director Fede Alvarez, premiered at SWSX (March 8, 2013), where it was met with praise and disdain from the crowd of horror fans who gathered early and stood in line for hours to see it.

Harry Knowles, the fat, ugly, uber nerd, who most likely never leaves his house except for horror movie screenings and film festivals said: EVIL DEAD is absolutely orgasmic, it will make you bleed out various orifices profusely and you’ll love it!!!!

Yet, Devin Faraci, a respected horror movie critic, said: EVIL DEAD is not that good. Super gory, not good.

After the screening, producers Robert G. Tapert and Bruce Campbell participated in a Q&A about the new Evil Dead, where questions about Evil Dead 4 were answered.

It was Rob Tapert who clarified that Evil Dead 4 is actually going to be Army of Darkness 2.

He explains: “That would be Army of Darkness 2. Everybody calls it Evil Dead 4, but Army Of Darkness wasn’t called Evil Dead anywhere except by the fans.”

Bruce Campbell, who fans have long hoped would return as Ash, had this to say about his possible come back.

“Sam threatens this every six months. I’ve heard this a thousand times, because in the back of his mind, he never wants to let go, because he loved making these movies. We all loved making them together. They were a nightmare to make, very difficult, but they lasted the test of time, so he’s not going to let that go, and I’m never going to say ‘no.’ It’ll be me and a walker fighting some other old guy. But that’s what he does and who knows? It may happen.”
