Oscar nominated director Ridley Scott (Thelma & Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, The Martian) returns to the universe he created in the 1979 movie Alien with Alien Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus. Alien Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction.
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
In all, so far, there have been six Alien movies in the big screen franchise; Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Prometheus and this, Alien Covenant. If you count the movie Alien vs Predator, there are seven.
Ridley Scott has only directed Alien (1979), Prometheus and Alien Covenant (2017).
James Cameron (Titanic) directed Aliens (1986). David Fincher (Fight Club) directed Aliens 3 (1992) and Jean-Pierre Jeunet (City Of Lost Children, Amelie) directed Alien Resurrection (1997).
