Megan Leavey

Megan Leavey Release Date: June 9, 2017

Trying to shamelessly capitalize on all of the popular war and dog movies of late, the fledgling studio Bleecker Street is gambling on the big screen movie Megan Leavey.

Unfortunately, they will go bust with this movie, as it will be DOA. First of all, the studio does not have a top notch marketing division, nor experienced buyers (the men who put the movies from each studio into busy theaters). Case in point, their box office bomb The Lost City Of Z, one of the biggest box office bombs for a wide release in theatrical history, even after millions of dollars of internet advertising. (Word of mouth was not good, therefore, all of the internet advertising in the world could not help the picture).

The movie Megan Leavey is based on the true life story of a young marine corporal (Kate Mara) whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their deployment in Iraq. When she is assigned to clean up the K9 unit after a disciplinary hearing, Megan Leavey identifies with a particularly aggressive dog, Rex, and is given the chance to train him. Over the course of their service, Megan and Rex completed more than 100 missions until an IED explosion injures them, putting their fate in jeopardy.

Making matters worse, the film stars the lesser known Mara girl, Kate and features no A-list talent at all, and is directed by the complete unknown, Gabriela Cowperthwaite.
